Manager, Further Processing, Beef
The Value-Added Processing Manager will report to the Plant General Manager and partner with other
plant leadership in providing support, oversight and leadership to the Value-Added and Grind
departments. This role will be responsible for providing leadership direction to all value added and grind
functions to include staffing needs, development and adherence to operational budget items, product
yields and recovery, production scheduling, facilitating and promoting labor relations.
Further, the Value-Added Manager will work to develop and implement operational processes and systems for his/her department to achieve our operational business goals to include our core values of innovation, engagement, and leadership development through sound practices and established guidelines. Additionally, the Value-Added Processing Manager will work closely with sales, marketing and others in the development of new products, yields, costing and will occasionally work directly with customers on the development and enhancement of those items.
Operational Management: Responsible for providing division oversight and direction to the
Value-added Supervisor team in day to day value added and grind processing operations to
include operational expense management, production yields, operating efficiencies food safety
and regulatory compliance as applicable for his department. Embraces a ‘continuous
improvement’ approach with his team in seeking and achieving operational efficiencies, cost
management, yield improvements, product quality and food safety compliance.
Departmental Budgeting, expense management and product costing: Responsible for
developing the annual operating budget for his/her division, managing expenses to the budget
and documenting variances. Is also responsible for developing costing activity for product
development to include yields, labor, packaging and allocated costs so that appropriate
compliance costs can be developed and managed.
Labor Relations: Works closely with HR in supporting initiatives for leadership development,
employee retention, education and training, staffing needs and strategies, and accurate and
Compliance: Works to ensure compliance with regulatory laws, company policies, food safety
and procedures, and USDA regulatory requirements.
Leadership Development: Partner with senior management to identify and proactively develop
talent through formal training, mentoring, coaching, and assignments. Participate in succession
planning to ensure talent is available and ready to assume positions of greater responsibility
within the Company.
10+ years of value-added further processing and grind (Beef preferred) experience in a
Solid knowledge of beef portion cutting, marinade/injection and ground beef production is
Strong communication skills
Ability to work in a fast paced, demanding work environment with constant deadlines,
interruptions, competing priorities
Solid computer skills, including Microsoft office products
