The Director of Sanitation and Compliance is responsible for developing, managing, and directing all company food safety, sanitation, and compliance programs. The positions is responsible for the management of plant cleaning, sanitation and compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), Good Safety Practices, federal and state regulations, and all sanitation policies and procedures.  This position will create and implement master food safety sanitation programs, Standard Operating Procedures and Practices, and will ensure each facility is in compliance with such through routine audits. This position will work closely with Production Operations, Quality, Maintenance and other departments to ensure full compliance to all sanitation and food safety requirements within the company. This position will also be the company’s primary point of contact for regulatory, third party or customer food safety auditors.
  • In cooperation with respective plant operating directors, managers and supervisors, structure each plant’s Food Safety & Sanitation programs so each site is inspection ready every day.
  • Ensures adherence to all GMP’s and Good Safety Practices.
  • Monitor and audit, making adjustments, as necessary to processing and packaging equipment cleanings and procedures (e.g., Master Sanitation Program).
  • Maintain and update the CIP programs.
  • Develop plant Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s). Ensure practices and protocols are up to date and adhere to all current regulatory guidance as well as customer requirements and standards.
  • Ensures compliance with all company and regulatory sanitation and food safety standards, as well as employee safety and environmental standards.
  • Ensure sanitary programs and associated documentation are consistently and completely executed and maintained across all facilities.
  • Directs and performs comprehensive sanitation and food safety audits.
  • Responsible for handling and managing the following audits and certifications as it relates to: FSSC 2200, Organic, Kosher, Food Defense and GMO’s
  • Communicates reports, findings, trends, and issues regarding food safety and sanitation inspections to operating and executive management.
  • Develops and conducts sanitation and CMP/Food Safety training at all plants.
  • Understands chemical specifications and proper application for cleaning of processing/package equipment.
  • Reviews and maintains sanitation documentation for Quality Assurance and regulatory review.
  • Builds partnerships with production, quality and maintenance departments to ensure goals are being met.
